Rough time…
Heyo! It’s been a while. I have done a lot since I last wrote on here. I went from 400 YouTube subscribers to 2,700. I got back with my ex-girlfriend of a year and a half, and while it was incredible, I had to break up with her so I could spend time furthering my emotional maturity, and cultivate healthier connections with people in the future. I often wish I hadn’t done that, but now is no time for regrets. I moved out! And got a job at Plato’s Closet to pay rent. I’ve become a significantly better YouTube editor and realized that YouTube was the only reason I actually cared about editing, so I’ve really been focused on making that a sustainable career. I’m doing this in a few ways, actually.
Firstly, I’ve listened to dozens of hours of podcasts about YouTube growth in the past 2 weeks, and have found that I have NOT been putting enough time and effort into ideation for videos, and have instead just gone with the first thing that came to mind (which hasn’t worked.) I’m beginning a repeatable format with the video I plan to put out this weekend, titled “The Dark World of _____” or just “The ___ World of ____”, who knows. This week’s video is “The Dark World of Skyblock Mods” and it’ll be uploaded to my YikesMC YouTube channel.
Secondly, I’ve decided I’m going to make a second channel, called “The Editing Pirate”, where I dress as a pirate (I already have all the costume shit) and teach editing techniques. I already have one video planned, but I need to get at least 5 long-form videos and 3 shorts out before I can launch the channel.
Thirdly, I’m going to really spend time on researching my audiences, and making sure my videos appeal to those people, because my last video was WAY too fast with its edits, so I need to slow down, and remember that my audience is predominately 18-35 year old men.
I’m really excited for the future. I’m sad about the relationship stuff, but it doesn’t need to control me. I got this, and if you’re reading this, you do too :)
